William Philp
William Philp is and abstract and landscape painter. He grew up in Forres and Wick before his family moved to Forfar in the early 1970s. A graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone School of Art, he was taught by a host of familiar Scottish artists including Alberto Morocco, James Morrison and Jack Knox.
His paintings are an emotive reaction to the landscape, influenced by his surroundings and his childhood in the Highlands. He works with chance and accident, randomly applying the paint and then lifting and scraping it until forms suggest themselves and an imagined landscape emerges.
Although William has not exhibited his work recently he has exhibited extensively around Scotland in the past.
