Maralyn Reed-Wood
Maralyn first became interested in ceramics at school in Kirkcudbright when she worked with Lochhead Pottery for her Highers. She then studied ceramics in Essex. She worked as an art teacher and then as an Art Therapist in an epilepsy hospital. She continued to make her own ceramics and took up working in porcelain. Her inspiration comes from many sources, decay and the complexity of nature being some of her popular starting points.
Maralyn’s work was accepted for a prestigious porcelain exhibition at Nyon, Switzerland in 1990. She then exhibited at The International Porcelain Exhibition at the Scottish Gallery and received an Arts Council Award.
Illness brought her career to a halt and she turned to making porcelain jewellery which won awards and commendations.
Maralyn has now returned to her ceramic figures with renewed vigour. She exhibits throughout Scotland including at the RSA and RGI.
