Isla Mae Jacobs
Born in the Highlands of Scotland in 1999, Isla is a contemporary artist who is based within Scotland. Educated through the Inverness College University of the Highlands and Islands, Isla approaches art through the use of digital and traditional methods.
Isla’s art practice is based on collecting, creating and observing. Her passion for art is fueled by her surrounding environment and recent travels. During the summer months, Isla engages with specimen collection around her local area. These insects that have died from natural causes are collected and stored in small jars with alcohol. The alcohol preserves the insects and creates art pieces for observation and inspiration. Her preferred traditional media is sculpture, ink and graphite. Her digital working methods include working in 3D sculpting, drawing and painting.
Isla’s recent works include dollhouses and figures that are in response to the theme of the uncanny.
